Orfordness is not all about the atomic era. It was set up as a government site in 1913. Since then it has seen many secret projects and here are some more remains. This building was the radar transmitter building, for the first experimental radar.

This was its partner, the receiver building. Both were re-used from previous purposes as were many others on the site.

Close by is this building, an experimental rocket projectile range from after WW2.

Here the restored black beacon from 1928, where experimental direction finding radio beacons were used. Opposite, its power house. To the rear, just visible, the fine lighthouse from 1792 built by Lord Braybroke.
